Similar Therapeutic Process For Online Trauma Therapy

When you participate in online trauma therapy, you can expect to engage in similar therapeutic processes and techniques as you would in traditional in-person therapy.

It’s important to note that everyone’s experience with online trauma therapy may be different. The process of healing from trauma can take time. However, with a qualified and experienced online therapist and a commitment to the therapeutic process, online trauma therapy can be an effective and beneficial way to heal from trauma.

Online trauma therapy is a form of therapy that is delivered over the internet through video calls. It is designed to help individuals who have experienced trauma to process and overcome their traumatic experiences. At Modern Wellness Counseling, online trauma therapy is done one-on-one with a therapist.

Here are some things you can expect from online trauma therapy:

Assessment

Your therapist will start with an assessment to determine the nature and extent of your trauma. Additionally, we will discuss any symptoms you may be experiencing. You can expect your online therapist to make you feel comfortable and welcome during this initial session.

It’s important for you to know that you do not have to dig into the most traumatic experience in the first few minutes of speaking with your online trauma therapist. Our goal is that you first feel comfortable, emotionally safe, and supported before diving into addressing your trauma.

Your therapist will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs and goals.

Evidence-based therapies

When you feel comfortable with speaking to your therapist, your therapist will utilize a particular set of trauma-informed therapeutic techniques to help identify triggers, memories, and body sensations.

Your therapist may use a variety of evidence-based therapies. These include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), or mindfulness-based therapies, to help you process and heal from your trauma.

Collaborative process During Online Trauma Therapy

You and your therapist will work collaboratively to explore and process your trauma experiences. You will develop coping skills, and strengthen resilience. This collaborative process is something we value here at Modern Wellness Counseling. We want all of our clients, regardless of what their presenting concern is, to know that their voice matters in their treatment.

Know that this collaborative process will be something that you can expect throughout all of your treatment, not just in the assessment.

Confidentiality

Your therapist will maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and legal guidelines to protect your privacy. With online counseling, you are responsible for your own confidentiality and ensuring that other people do not enter your room during your session. We recommend that you find a safe and quiet place to log into your session. We discourage logging in from a public setting such as a coffee shop.

Technology

Your therapist will use a secure digital platform for all of your therapy sessions. This will be done via a video call. Our secured client portal is also compliant with privacy regulations to protect your personal information.

The use of our secure client portal is one of the benefits of online trauma therapy. It offers increased accessibility and convenience. As well as allowing individuals to participate in therapy from the comfort of their own homes. As well as wherever they have access to the internet. It can also be particularly beneficial for those who may have difficulty attending in-person therapy sessions due to physical or geographic barriers. As well as for those who prefer the anonymity and privacy that online therapy can provide.

The Flexibility of Online Trauma Therapy

Online therapy offers greater flexibility in scheduling and location, allowing you to participate in therapy from the comfort of your own home. However, it’s important to note that online therapy may not be suitable for everyone. Individuals with severe mental health concerns, such as acute psychosis or suicidal ideation, may require in-person treatment.

If you’re considering online trauma therapy, it’s important to research and finds a qualified and licensed therapist. This is someone who specializes in trauma treatment and has experience delivering therapy through digital platforms. Luckily for you, we do have these types of therapists here at Modern Wellness Counseling and they are ready to help you in your journey.
